look at the state of michigan. it has very high unemployment. the city of detroit is near 19% unemployment. so when you look at those arguments, you look at right-to-work states overall have lower unemployment rates than other states, what do you think about the potentially this being a move for the positive? maybe this is something that opens up the state to more jobs? >> there is no evidence that happens. indeed what has happened productivity has risen in this country. the last decades by 60, 70% but wages have been more or less stagnant. and if workers don't have a voice, they can't better their own condition. you know, we've had a middle class that really in terms of income been stagnant. in 201090% of the income growth went to the top 1%. the top 1% needs to be talking to the 99% and representation gives people a chance to have a voice. and essentially what, it isn't right-to-work. people don't have a join a union. they don't have a pay union dues. if a majority selects a representative, essentially everybody needs to pay the cost of that representative sentation. jenna:

. reinventing michigan, let me just zero in on one city in your state, detroit, 18.9% unemployment which is absolutely deplorable for the people of detroit. what do you intend to do or what can you do? what can the state do to try to help the city? one city council men last night said as a quid pro quo she wants the president to bail them out. what do you plan to do about detroit? >> we are going to continue working with the city. we did a consent agreement with them earlier this year that called for a number of actions to happen because we do need better services for the citizens of detroit. they deserve it. and we need to achieve results. the problem is the mayor and the city council haven't been able to get on the same page. we are going through the process now of saying if they don't get it done, we are going to start a review, hopefully next week, that will go on for 30 days to say if it doesn't get done, there are other actions, including emergency managers that we should be considering for detroit. so i'm clearly encouraging the city and the mayor to get these issues on the table,

hitting the coastal city of ishinomaki. so far there are no reports of major injuries or damage. authorities lifted warnings and advisories two hours after the quake hit. this tremor struck in the early evening as people were heading home from work or getting ready to sit down to dinner. agency spokesperson believe it was an aftershock of the march 11th earthquake. we felt the tremor here in tokyo. buildings swayed for a number of minutes. local authorities in north eastern japan said the earthquake caused limited damage. nhk has learned that ten people were injured in four prefectures, including miyagi and ibaraki. more than 5,000 residents in coastal areas of miyagi prefecture evacuated to higher ground out of concern over tsunami. 15 flights at sendai airport in the northeast were canceled because the airport is in the tsunami zone. two nuclear power plants damaged in last year's quake, including the fukushima daiichi plant, did not suffer any damage. the powerful earthquake prompted local authorities to call for the evacuation of coastal areas in fukushima, miyagi, and iwate

a good war- fighting weather. i was among the first forces to -- of israeli forces to enter the city of beirut in june 1982. my actual unit was decimated in an ambush and we ended up being attached to all sorts of other units for the duration of the war. later on, i became one of the few israelis to be a veteran of the gulf war. in a period just before the outbreak of the gulf war, i was assigned as a strategic liaison between the army and the u.s. fleet. in the book, i went out that israel had repeatedly requested in 1967, precisely such a liaison with the sixth fleet. the u.s. denied the request. in subsequent years, the united states gave to the request and i was the liaison. it was an interesting job. i went out and partied a lot with american pilots on leave in israel. we had a few maneuvers on the ground, nothing too serious. all of a sudden, it became real. all of a sudden, there was a real war in which the united states and israel had to collaborate strategically. you may recall that the united states provided israel with patriot missiles as an answer -- at least a psychologi
